Netflix’s latest Adam Sandler movie Murder Mystery has broken a big viewing record.
The comic actor has a multi-picture deal with Netflix, having previously starred in The Ridiculous Six and The Do-Over.
And while those projects haven’t fared well with the critics, they’ve gone down a storm with viewers, as The Ridiculous Six proved to be the streamer’s biggest movie hit back in 2016.
Now it seems like the Big Daddy favourite has struck gold once again, as an official Netflix Twitter page has claimed that Murder Mystery was watched by nearly 31m accounts in its first three days – a record for the streaming service’s movies.
The post read: “ADAM SANDLER AND JENNIFER ANISTON BREAKING NEWS ALERT. 30,869,863 accounts watched Murder Mystery in its first 3 days – the biggest opening weekend ever for a Netflix Film. 13,374,914 accounts in the US and Canada, and 17,494,949 more worldwide.”
It’s worth noting that Netflix counts a view as someone watching more than 70% of the film, but those are still some serious numbers.
If you weren’t one of the millions who have already seen Murder Mystery, the new movie follows Sandler and Aniston’s married couple as they’re caught up in a murder investigation on a billionaire’s yacht.
Think Murder on the Orient Express with added comedy elements.
